Map tiles and places

The street map, place names, roads, railway and metro lines, stations, schools, hospitals and shops come from OpenStreetMap, © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database License (ODbL). The vector tiles are served by OpenFreeMap, built on the OpenMapTiles schema.

Satellite imagery

The Satellite and Hybrid views use Sentinel-2 cloudless by EOX IT Services GmbH (contains modified Copernicus Sentinel data 2016), licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0. Its pixels are 10 m, so it is sharp at district level and soft close up.

Provinces, districts and sub-districts

Official boundaries of every province, district (amphoe / khet) and sub-district (tambon / khwaeng) of Thailand: drawn by the Royal Thai Survey Department, acquired by ICRC and made available by OCHA (COD-AB), licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 IGO; codes, English names and processing by GeoThai (names under CC BY 4.0). We re-encode the lines and simplify the province outlines for the country view.

Neighbourhood outlines

Most neighbourhoods on the map (CMU / Suthep, Hang Dong, Patong, Silom...) are official districts or sub-districts and use the official lines above. Informal neighbourhoods such as Nimman, the Old City, Thonglor or Jomtien have no legal boundary: we draw an approximate outline from the streets, beaches and landmarks locals use for the name (OpenStreetMap data, ODbL), and the map labels them "approx. outline".

How accurate the pins are

Most adverts name an area, not an address. A pin is exact when the advert names a condo building we have researched (it sits on the building); approximate when it names a district or neighbourhood (it sits in that area, spread a little so pins do not stack); and city only, shown as a hollow pin, when the advert names nothing more precise than the city. Always confirm the location with the owner before you decide.

Transport stations and condo buildings

Station positions used for "near a station" searches and the researched condo buildings are our own data, entered by hand; tell us if one is wrong.
